What is a DIN EN 15038 certified translation service?

As of August 2006, DIN 2345 was replaced by the European EN 15038 standard.

We considered the certification option at length. Naturally, the certification process is associated with higher costs for existing customers. On the other hand, it would allow us to attract new customers who are willing to pay more for a DIN-certified translation. However, existing customers might not agree to a price increase since they already know and appreciate the quality of our translation services. The DIN 15038 standard requires the exclusive use of qualified, certified translators who translate only into their native language. The reason we are so successful is that we have always followed this process. In addition, the DIN EN 15038 standard requires the use of the "second set of eyes" principle, which means that each translation must be proofread by a second professional translator skilled in the respective subject. We always offer this service as an additional option. In some cases, for example with printed matter, it is essential. Ultimately, the customer has to decide which services are desired and how to plan the budget. Proofreading by a second translator usually only costs 1/3 of the base price, or it may be billed at an hourly rate.

Our prices for many EU languages are 0.90 € max. per standard line. If you require a translation based on the DIN EN 15038 standard, you only pay an additional 0.30 € per standard line.

Offices and agencies certified under the DIN EN 15038 standard usually charge 1.20 € and up for simple texts. In case of specialised subjects, the price can easily double depending on the source language / target language combination!
